I am pleased to announce that the State Fire Marshal has withdrawn his proposed rule to require fire sprinklers and other expensive modifications in Chicago high rises.

I want to thank the thousands of individuals who have worked tirelessly against this proposal. The numerous letters, phone calls and emails showed the dire impact this would have on our community. Without your support and action, we wouldn’t have come this far.

In the coming months, my colleagues and I will continue to monitor for future efforts and will keep you informed.
